Results of the work of the Service in 2016

The Customs Service has summed up its work for 2016. It was the first full year in which every container at the Talas Customs Clearance Terminal passed through the X-ray scanners.

Officers found 212 cases of goods not declared or wrongly declared, against 131 in 2015. Most concerned cigarettes taken out of the Talas Free Economic Trade Zone without payment of duty, and diesel fuel carried in lorry tanks above the norm.

The Director thanked the staff of the Terminal and the northern posts and set for 2017 the task of bringing the share of electronic declarations at the Terminal close to all.
